Nathaniel’s Restaurant: Hidden Sanctuary of Puto Pao Lovers

“San na ba tayo kakain?”, I asked him with a groggy face.
“Kahit saan basta may malamig na tubig”, he said (with a more groggy face).

That was probably the safest and most humble answer I’ve ever heard (and well, most desperate).  Do you know the feeling of going nowhere, looking for a place to eat and relax, when your running in circles with your overused feet and almost dead beat and yet you can’t decide which restaurant will satisfy your most yearning appetite?

The only thing in my mind that has kept me going that time was, “Thank God, I love him enough to stay with him in moments like these”. I just enjoyed what we called the HHWW or Holding Hands While Walking because that was the advantage of not having a car. You got the chance of holding your love’s hands while walking without even minding the distance of the walk or the length of your talk. <3 (ugh, kinda awkward though)

It was a very tiring day for me and my boyfriend. We were indeed a very lucky couple to find this hidden haven amidst the busy streets of San Juan. We kept using our drained self until we decided to dine in this simple yet classy restaurant of Nathaniel’s. This restaurant is located in Rustan’s along Wilson St. corner P. Guevarra, Little Baguio, San Juan City.

At first, we were sort of hesitant because of its secrete ambience and feel. Façade is cool and green-themed. When we entered the restaurant, crews were nice and accommodating.

They gave us this whooping menu and then left us for a while (maybe to give us time to breathe). Below is the list of options from their menu.

Since we were so worn-out, we asked for a glass of iced, sparkling water and pointed out our desired foods after.

I ordered Porkchop Steak, topped with gravy served with rice and buttered veggies. Pork is kinda hard to chew but the rich gravy effortlessly tweaked the dish.

Porkchop Steak - Php 135.00, Rating: 5/10
My boyfriend's choice was Sizzling Burger Steak,  beef patties topped with gravy served with rice and buttered veggies. The Beef Patty comes from high grade beef meat which is tender and juicy. It was seasoned well making it more delectable and appealing.

The Baked Macaroni was surely made by an excellent chef who believes in perfectionism. My boyfriend really liked its luscious layers. This scrumptious Baked Mac deserves an 8. This might be one of the reasons why I should go back to this place.

At Php70.00, you will get a plate of palatable Pansit Palabok. This rice noodle topped with  flavored meaty sauce and ground pork chicharon turned out to be surprise. This also comes with  slices of egg with spring onion.

We will not go out without trying their specialty,  Pork and Chicken Puto Pao. Chicken Puto Pao I think is more tastier than Pork Puto Pao. Nevertheless, both Puto Pao surprised us with their unique savor that made the dish enjoyable. Definitely, a must try!
